Malta

Malta

Merħba! Did you know that the capital city of Malta – Valletta, is the smallest national capital in all of the European countries. Because of its strategic location in the heart of the Mediterranean, this country has passed through the hands of various foreign ruler such as the Phoenicians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs, Normans, Sicilians, Swabians, Aragonese, Hospitallers, French, and British.

The name Malta itself is believed to mean “honey” due to an endemic species of bee, which produces a unique type of honey for which the island is very well known. The Bible book of Acts notes another reason that makes this island so sweet – its “extraordinary” hospitable nature (Acts 28:1,2). Although centuries have passed, most Maltese are friendly and helpful by nature and are usually more than happy to help you with whatever you need.

Malta is devoid of forests and rivers across its three main islands. Also, Malta is mainly made up of limestone, and there are no hills in the country that are higher than 300 meters. Nevertheless, Malta as an island country is surrounded by the waters of the Mediterranean on all four sides. What it lacks in natural resources, that is more than made up for by way of its diverse population and architecture. You will find no shortage of people and history to capture on this densely populated island.
