Turkey

Hoş Geldin! Did you know that what is commonly referred to as Asia Minor is a land bridge between SE Europe and Central Asia? Being a strategic gateway between western and eastern world powers, it comes as no surprise that many wars have been contested here. Even greater still is the fact that this land was the scene of the Apostle Paul’s missionary activities as well as the focus of Jesus’ inspired letters addressed to seven congregations – all located in what is now the modern Republic of Turkey.

Turkey has some of the earliest known writings, paintings, currencies, and pottery known to man which makes it an important region in the study of early human history. In fact, the reliable Biblical account of the global flood in Noah’s day, puts its eight survivors at Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey. And from that point, the great civilizations of man spread across the globe.

Traveling to Turkey you will find a warm and hospitable people with strong social and family ties. Even in the modern and Eurocentric city of Istanbul, you will be impressed with the kindness and hospitality offered to strangers. While you will be hard pressed in deciding where to venture in Turkey, take your time with just one or two cities – I am sure you will be back again for more!
