Howdy Y'all! Did you know that the United States holds the largest freshwater lake in the world? If you are thinking Lake Superior, then you would be correct! There is enough water contained in this lake “to completely cover both North and South America under a foot [30cm] of water! Also known as “the Graveyard of the Great Lakes,” there are hundreds of wrecked ships that have found their way to the bottom of the lake.

The US National Park Service is tasked to care for among other interests, national parks. It also “provides for the enjoyment” of the aforementioned parks. While the United States may have some of the most recognizable national parks in the world, Australia leads the list with over 680 national parks. The United States comes in 7th place with 62! The most visited US National Park in 2021 was Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville, NC with almost 16 million visitors!

When it comes to diversity in the United States, recent Census data finds that Houston, Texas is the most diverse city followed by Jersey City, New Jersey and then New York, New York. In fact, among the top ten most diverse cities, Texas makes the list thrice! With all this diversity and natural beauty, America has produced many fine photographers to document American life. It is easy to identify with famed photographer, Garry Winogrand who said, “Sometimes I feel like . . . the world is a place I bought a ticket to. It’s a big show for me, as if it wouldn’t happen if I wasn’t there with a camera.”
