Seattle

Seattle

Welcome! Did you know that parts of Seattle’s business district – rebuilt after the Great Seattle Fire of 1889 – sits on top of the old city? Just think of modern Seattle as a two-story residence on top of a finished basement. Because of its early logging history, the expression “skid row” came to define the lumberjack camps and their roads with wooden slats greased with bacon grease or other lubricants on hand, to ease the pulling of logs over them and out to the sawmills. "Mmmm!"

Today, Seattle has certainly grown to prominence from its modest days of timber and those coming to the city in hopes of finding fortune during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1896. Today, Seattle plays host to some of the biggest companies around, including Amazon, Boeing, Microsoft, Starbucks, to name a few. In addition, the Emerald City has enjoyed a great music scene – with the most notable genre of Grunge developing in the mid 1980’s.

Although rain and clouds are synonymous with the Pacific Northwest, and in particular, Seattle. You may be surprised to know that Atlanta, Boston, New York City and Houston receive more annual rainfall than Seattle. Still, it rains at lot in Seattle and the native population prides itself on their ability to withstand the rain without an umbrella. Or maybe it is because they have one hand for their coffee and the other for their phone. But I wager a guinea that you will not find better weather in the summer months of July and August. Perfect for photographing!
